Governor McAuliffe to Speak at Housing Awards Luncheon
This year’s keynote speaker is David Stevens, president and CEO of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA), former assistant secretary for housing and federal housing commissioner at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and former president and COO of the Long and Foster Companies.
As always, the conference will be filled with a wide variety of sessions covering a range of topics. This year, the conference focuses on creating healthy communities. You’ll find a variety of plenary sessions and 90-minute sessions, which include in-depth discussions for advanced, seasoned professionals. The 30-minute snap sessions link experts to practitioners on specific community development and housing topics. From building codes and tax credits to community gardens and food deserts, there’ll be plenty of opportunities to learn, share and connect.
In addition, we hope you’ll join other housing and community development professionals on the Community Development Bus Tour. The tour is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 1 - 3:30 p.m. The tour bus will leave the Norfolk Waterside Marriott and make its first stop at Grandy Village. This 44-acre assisted-rental property, built in 1953, has been undergoing a transformation into a quality mixed-income community with future market rental and homeownership opportunities. In addition, you’ll visit the Grandy Village Learning Center and The Elizabeth River Project’s Dominion Virginia Power Learning Barge. Reserve your spot today!
