New Fund to Link Housing and Health Care | Affordable Housing Finance

It looks like 2013 is finally going to be the year housing and health care start getting linked together in a big way. A partnership between Morgan Stanley, The Kresge Foundation and the Local Initiatives Support Corp. (LISC) has received a $100 million investment fund to build housing with health services. Find out the specifics in Affordable Housing Finance's post on the New Fund to Link Housing and Health Care.

It’s great news that’s definitely worth sharing. From REACH Virginia’s beginning, we’ve been working to spread the word about how important it is to link housing with services, and not just the critical supportive services for those with special needs — like the disabled and frail elderly. And we’re not the only ones.

“We are very pleased to offer the new Healthy Futures Fund to our partners across Virginia. The program will hopefully inspire innovative partnerships in linking health services with housing development to promote healthier communities. In fact, Virginia LISC is ready to help make these partnerships happen, and we hope housing developers will contact us to discuss any ideas they might have about customizing the program to benefit potential projects,” said John Bolton, Virginia LISC Program Officer.

Talk about exciting! Hopefully this new partnership to build sustainable communities it’s only the beginning of a trend that will improve the quality of life in struggling, low-income neighborhoods across Virginia, and the country.
